You own a florist shop and want to set up a web site. How would you go about it?

Questions to Ask Yourself

  1. Who would use your site?
  2. What do those people want from your site?
  3. What web services are available that meet your needs?

Answer from Your Experience

  1. Think of situations where you have ordered flowers. Under what situations would you use a florist web site?
    - would you go to a local florist site to order flowers for someone local?
    - would you go to a local florist site to order flowers for someone somewhere else?
    - would you go to a florist site somewhere else?
  2. If you would use a florist web site what would you expect?
    - would you expect a shopping cart?
    - would you want to contact them in person?
    - would you prefer an arrangement from a national catalog or would you prefer an arrangement from their catalog, or would you prefer something unique?
    - would you check comments about that florist?

Exercise:

  1. Go to Google.com
  2. Do a search for "florist port angeles"
  3. Look at the sites.
  4. What do you think about these sites?
