Access Presentation Instructions
Problem to Model
Each team will choose a "problem" that
your database will model. If your team has problems thinking up a problem,
I will be happy to help you; come to my office hours.
I want you to succeed. Your group is encouraged to
use office hours to ask for advice on your presentation. Remember, in
the real world you have many resources at your disposal; much of your
success will depend on learning to use those resources.
Project Requirements
Your presentation must show the following skills:
- Planning the information needed in a table.
- Showing how the data in tables is related and
how to make the relationships.
- Showing how to pull information out of a database
with Queries.
- Showing how to constrain the data in a Query.
- Showing how to create and use a calculated field.
- Showing how to put together a Report based on
a Query.
- Showing how to format the Report.
Your presentation will have the following sections:
- Explain the problem.
- Describe how you planned and designed your tables,
fields, relationships, queries and reports.
- Describe how you created everything in #2.
After you present (the same day or points will be
taken off), turn in a report with the following:
- Name of your group members and what they did
to help your project.
- An explanation of your organizational problem
and solution.
- A printout of your tables, queries and reports
- A disk with your Access file.
Grading
You will be graded on the following:
- Required content. 75
points total
- Quality,
complexity and explanation of the problem: 15
points
- Overall quality of the presentation: 10 points
- Planning: 10 points
- Tables, fields and constraints: 15
points
- Query and Report: 10 points
- Written documentation: 15 points
- Group evaluations of your work as a team member. 10
points
- Class evaluation of your presentation. 10
points
- Your evaluation of your peers. 5
points
